Job description

Summary: The Convention Banquet Server is primarily responsible for providing the highest quality of service to guests and the set-up, service, and clearing of all assigned events functions according to Lakeside Hotel Casinos standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned:
Must be comfortable serving a variety of events that will vary in service style.
Must be able to read a Banquet Event Order (BEO) and know how to complete a setup.
Sets tables in assigned area (or checks to see that they have been set) correctly and uniformly, using: clean, pressed linen (without rips, stains, or tears); clean unspotted silverware, clean china with no chips or cracks; clean unspotted glassware. Properly cleans and fills table complements (salt and pepper, sugar, breadbaskets, etc.)
Know the menu for each function served.
Keep work station neat and clean during service. Constantly patrols assigned station(s), serving food and beverages to guests as needed.
Receives guest orders for food or beverage that varies from the set menu.
Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items.
Refers complaints on food to service to the Supervisor on duty.
Performs all opening and closing side duties assigned. Cleans function room and back of house areas during and after banquet functions.
Sets up, serves, and breaks down coffee breaks, receptions, and other special functions, as assigned.
Communicate with the Culinary team timely when food items are low.
Maintain and understand compliance with federal, and state local regulations.
Perform all job functions in a safe and responsible manner.
Complete all company-required training timely.
Comply with all Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission Rules and Regulations and any other local, state, or federal guidelines.
Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be 18 years of age or older to serve alcoholic beverages.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
All Employees must be knowledgeable of all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Prior Food Server experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Must be able to obtain and maintain an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Must be able to effectively communicate in English in all manners. This position will require minimal public speaking. This position is responsible for report writing and data compilation.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Prior use of Point of Sale (POS) systems helpful.
