The key responsibility of the Floral Manager is to provide support and maintenance of the entire department and oversee the purchasing of product, inventory control and presentation of the Floral department. The Manager is responsible for ensuring proper level is stock is maintained and that product placement is optimal for maximizing profitability. This position may have one or more direct reports. Three (3) years' experience in floral department operations required.
Essential duties include:
Supervise floral staff to ensure productivity and excellent customer service
Develop weekly schedule of floral department staff and manager hours to ensure maximum profitability
Comply with and implement safety policies and procedures, store rules and company policies
Receive and unload floral orders; verify vendor invoices are correct
Monitor sales volume, inspect store inventory level and maintain in-store promotional materials
Track and analyze floral sales trends and utilize information to develop sales projections
Control department merchandising to maximize product movement
Monitor inventory for spoilage and ensure proper rotation of merchandise
Ensure that the department is adequately stocked and cleanliness in maintained
Assist in creating floral arrangements, particularly during the holidays and special occasions
Assist with clerk duties as needed to maintain department
Other related duties and assignments as required
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college strongly preferred.
Experience: Three (3) years experience in floral department operations. Completion or participation in a management training program. Retail and/or supermarket field experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Technical: Knowledgeable in the care, maintenance and handling of various flowers and foliage, indoor plants and other items. Highly effective organizational and time management skills. Skilled in independently prioritizing, planning, coordinating, organizing, leading and monitoring multiple organizational projects of a complex nature simultaneously and quickly adapting to changes in time frames. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, gross margins, markup, percentages and to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency.
Interpersonal Relationships: Ability to interface with vendors, customers, management and company personnel on a regular basis, to obtain or provide information. Has the propensity to project a positive attitude and look for solutions to problems. Ability to collaborate with others through teamwork and share ideas to work towards a common goal.
The pay range for this position is $22.25 - $22.95
