Financial Reporting & Control Associate / Senior Associate

A professional services firm in Connecticut is actively seeking a dynamic and analytical professional to join their staff as a Financial Reporting & Control Associate / Senior Associate. In this role, the Financial Reporting & Control Associate / Senior Associate will support the Controllership function in the Americas, assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, expense allocations and recharges, and overall financial statement analysis and balance sheet oversight.

Responsibilities

The Financial Reporting & Control Associate / Senior Associate will:

  • Prepare complex expense allocations across the global firm
  • Work cross-functionally with Fund Accounting, Legal & Compliance, and Deal Professionals, as necessary, to formulate complex allocations
  • Prepare and record expense recharge invoices on a timely basis and maintain ownership over accounts receivable monitoring and analysis
  • Prepare monthly and/or quarterly account reconciliations for a subset of the Americas balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare ASC 606 analysis to determine principal vs. agent treatment for Fund Expense reimbursements across the Americas
  • Participate in the Americas balance sheet and income statement variance analysis on a monthly and/or quarterly basis
  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements and footnote disclosures
  • Adhere to the firm’s internal control environment and documentation requirements
  • Develop solutions to complex accounting and reporting issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 4-5 years of experience in general accounting and financial reporting
  • Public accounting experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting requirements
  • Experience navigating a large ERP environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office products – intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
