Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day core HR functions and compliance encompassing the life cycle of employment
- Support management with human resources advice, counsel, and decisions
- Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures and guidelines
- Recruiting/Staffing
- Work with department heads to identify current and prospective staffing requirements
- Develop staffing strategies and work through the preparation of job descriptions, posting of jobs, and the interviewing, selection, hiring, and onboarding process
- Oversee pre-employment screenings and the FCRA notice process, as required
- Prepare, plan and perform new hire orientation/onboarding. Work with department heads regarding employee onboarding/training plans to ensure new hires are set up for success
- Payroll & Timekeeping
- Experience with employee payroll and all aspects of timekeeping (ADP preferred)
- Remain knowledgeable of national and TX wage and hour laws
- Provide management reporting to the leadership team, as requested
- Maintain accurate and relevant information in ADP
- Ensure compliance with Company policies/practices and federal, state and local employment laws
- Oversee and manage FMLA matters
- Remain compliant with FLSA, FCRA, NLRA, and all other relevant employment laws
- Manage ADA matters, including the interactive process with employees
- Remain a steward of Company policies, educating employees about policy provisions and parameters
- Calendar, and meet, annual reporting requirements (EEO1, etc)
- Maintain accurate and compliant job descriptions
- Consult and coordinate with outside counsel as necessary
- Benefits
- Assist with employee benefits and benefits administration, including review and selection of benefits, annual open enrollment, and compliance with annual reporting requirements (5500s, ACA, annual plan testing, etc.)
- Coordinate and oversee 3rd party vendor relationships
- Incorporate new and innovative benefits to aid in recruiting and retention
- Work with staff to field PTO questions and assist with maintaining accurate PTO balances
- Performance Management
- Coordinate with the leadership team to facilitate the employee performance review process
- Research and advice on market changes regarding compensation
- Assist in coaching and counseling employees
- Manage difficult employee situations with poise
- Work closely with management to develop and administer succession planning programs
- Employee Relations
- Serve as the cultural ambassador for the Company
- Promote a culture that encompasses the Company’s core values
- Manage and oversee effective corporate communication with employees
- Manage performance or grievance issues with professionalism
- Coordinate with the leadership team to craft and deliver effective and pertinent recognition and rewards program
- Coordinate and Facilitate Company-wide events
- Training
- Identify training needs; Conduct/facilitate training
- Track training initiatives
- Ensure strategic alignment of training with Corporate objectives
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness
- Mentor HR Staff
- Employee Exits
- Perform exit interviews with departing employees
- Generate constructive data from exits to create useful information to aid in attraction and retention
- Draft, deliver and monitor the status of separation/severance agreements
- Provide timely responses to unemployment claims
- Oversee OSHA administration
- Manage Workers’ Compensation matters
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 10+ years experience in a Human Resources Management Position
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Human Resources best practices & all state and federal employment laws including FLSA, NLRA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, FCRA, Title VII, etc.
- Proven organizational, multi-tasking and project management skills, including skillfully managing competing priorities
- Experience managing FMLA, ADA, and employee Leaves of Absence
- Experience administering employee benefits and familiarity with COBRA, HIPAA and ERISA
- Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems & processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
