Sugar Magnolia Bakery & Cafe is looking for new line & prep cooks to join our team. The line and prep cook roles prepare and create fresh scratch-made foods for our patrons in downtown Statesboro. This includes executing four seasonal menus that evolve throughout the year. As well as, adapting and learning recipes weekly.
These persons should have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, be enthusiastic, enjoy working with all types of people, and have a basic understanding of culinary techniques and principles. The ideal candidate will have excellent organization skills, basic knife abilites, and prior experience working in the food and beverage industry.
Create – Prepare hot and cold foods, such as sandwiches, salads, steaks, and seafood, to order while working efficently in cooperation with the orders.
Communicate – Work with the management and front of house staff by describing the details of the product and answer any questions they may have, such as dietary needs or known allergies.
Clean – Determine that all workstations are stocked with products needed. Clean and sanitize all work areas and customer-seating areas.
High School diploma or GED
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
A good memory to manage multiple orders and priortize said orders efficently
Must be able to maintain a clean and tidy work station at all times
Ability to execute recipes quickly, efficiently and kindly
Ability to lift 30 pounds or more at a time
Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and reach over your head
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays
One year or more working in a "a la minute" kitchen environmnet
Ability to work on prep autonomously and priortize prep efficently
Pay subject to work experience, education, and culinary aptitude. Canidates may be subject to skill test at time of interview.
