Mane are looking for an experienced MEP Engineer with experience working on an operational Data Center.
Your responsibilties will be;
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of Data Centre MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) facilities.
- Perform re-lamping and carry out general facilities repairs.
- Supervise vendors performing scheduled maintenance, including weekend work.
- Escort vendors for regular cleaning in Data Halls and other critical areas.
- Escalate incidents or problems to the Engineer or Manager as required.
- Utilize electrical qualifications with an understanding of or qualifications in mechanical systems.
- Manage incident handling and resolution effectively.
- Assist the Manager or Engineer in handling customer IT equipment racks and coordinating equipment move-ins.
- Provide 24/7 shift duty services to ensure continuous operations.
- Monitor and manage the Data Centre Infrastructure Management System (DCIM) and related systems, including BMS (Building Management System), PMS (Power Management System), and SMS (Security Management System). Assist with updating inventory and asset lists.
- Coordinate with local utility providers and perform routine checks and maintenance.
- Conduct Burn-in Tests and Current Leakage Tests for customer IT equipment.
- Maintain knowledge and proficiency in BMS, PMS, and other systems.
- Approach tasks with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
- Act as an Authorized Person (AP) for on-site switching operations, including LVAP (Low Voltage Authorized Person) and HVAP (High Voltage Authorized Person) responsibilities.
Job Requirements
- Hold a valid HV certification for switching and operations or have previous qualifications.
- Proficient in IT, including the use of Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer tools.
- Electrically qualified to Level 3 2330 or an equivalent certification.
- Hold a certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities operations within Data Centres (preferred), critical environments, or the telecommunications industry.
- Familiarity with critical facilities equipment, including Chillers, CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning), UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), STS (Static Transfer Switch), Gensets, and Nitrogen Gas Suppression Systems.
- Demonstrate a proactive and motivated attitude.
- Preferred qualification: HND/HNC or equivalent technical certification (e.g., City & Guilds).
Working Hours
- Operation: 24/7 continuous service.
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts, Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays.
- Evening Shift: Single-person shift, requiring self-motivation to complete tasks such as PPMs and other responsibilities.
- Shift engineer role is a shift role working 12-hour shifts, on a continental shift pattern, which will consist of 4 days, 6 off, 4 nights, 4 rest, 3 days, 3 nights, 4 rest then the process repeats.
