Our client is London’s / UK’s largest sustainability and green investment event. They bridge the gap between sustainability change-makers, business leaders, government, and funding, providing innovative net-zero business solutions and the necessary financing to implement them. Their mission is to accelerate business transitions to net-zero and drive increased investment in this critical area.
Their team brings extensive experience from the big corporates but is now thriving as an independent, purpose-driven start-up. They operate mainly from their office or at competitive events each week, requiring candidates to have a reliable internet connection when working remotely.
They are social and active, attending industry events and entering awards. They are proud to have recently won Best Marketing Campaign at an Industry recognised Awards.
About You:
The Client is looking for an experienced Sales/ Business Development Manager that understands the world of events. This role will work across various channels and initiatives to generate sales and convert leads. Ideally the candidate with have a background in Climate Tech or Energy or understand the opportunities the net-zero transition presents. The event is a mix of stand sales and conference sponsorship so experience across both these areas would be beneficial.
This will include:
- regular follow up to inbound leads via email and Google Meet calls
- outbound research, outreach, phone calls and lead sourcing via LinkedIn and other social channels
- attendance at competitive events and networking events
- maintain and update all customer conversations in our CRM (Pipedrive)
- accurate forecasting of prospects via their weekly team sales meeting and regular 121s with your manager
- sending email and newsletter campaigns to pipeline prospects
- organic social media activity
- analysing and testing campaigns to see what resonates best with their target audiences
- working with external networks and communities to drive leads for the event
- support to create content for communications including working with partners and thought-leaders to generate content
- assist with the research of leads and data building to grow their database
- assist with research and support to analyse current sustainability news and trends to maximise marketing outreach
- support on digital or in-person events as required. These are smaller in-person networking events run by the business or their partners as well as the main event on 24-25 June 2025 with 7,500 attendees.
On-the-job training will be provided to enhance pre-existing abilities from their highly experienced employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research the sustainability sector, follow the main sustainability news sites and be active on social
- Sales Target £200k
- Lead gen for month - Actively source and add deals to pipeline daily via inbound or outbound activity
- Proposals - Send out 20 proposals a month, i.e. approx. 1 prop a day
- Ex prom for month - Work with marketing team to target at least one database segment a month
- Sponsorship - Close one sponsorship proposal a month, can be part of stand package agreement
- Proofread company posts, articles and documents as required.
- Other relevant, reasonable and connected tasks may be added to this list, as determined by the developing needs of the business.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – and a strong track record of creating compelling and effective communications.
- Understanding of and a passion for marketing principles, strategy, tactics, developments, and new techniques.
- Some experience or knowledge of campaign management and new marketing technologies.
- Proficient with using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. Strong understanding of social media channels.
- Copywriting, proofreading skills and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & meet deadlines.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and approach projects and campaigns with enthusiasm and curiosity.
- Strong data & analytical skills will be advantageous.
- Ability to work both independently, as well as collaboratively with other team members.
- A flexible approach to work & a desire to take on new challenges & responsibilities & master new skills.
- Ability to understand customer & partner needs & craft practical solutions.
- Interest in sustainability issues & how businesses and communities can have a positive impact on the planet and its people.
