Our Mississauga client is in need of a Capital Manager for the next 9 months with strong potential for the role to become permanent. The Capital Manager will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the planning and execution of the capital budget annual cycle
prioritization processes for each business unit. The Capital Manager will provide resource and business support to the departmental VPs for financial and analytical support for the annual Capital Plan, forecasts, business case development, post implementation review, and ad-hoc requests.
Responsibilities include:
- Financial Controls related to work in process including, but not limited to, review of abandoned projects for write-downs and identification of existing assets impacted by new projects (change in amortization periods)
- Manage the steps required to transfer completed projects to the fixed asset subledger.
- Manage the process of allocating labour and ensuring the capitalization of labour complies with policy.
- Plan and coordinate the annual capital planning cycle, with the approval of the director
- Actively involved in the preparation of the annual capital planning including development of 5 Year Strategic Capital Plans
- Act as a subject matter expert with respect to the Capital Planning processes and a key resource who assists, and provides clear and concise guidance to, the various Business Unit(s) VPs, Directors, Associate Directors and Managers
- Provides coordination, analysis and input for target setting, prioritization and funding decisions
- Ensures that capital initiatives considered for budget link to the formalized strategic goals/priorities and business plans
- Provides support for the long-term capital and infrastructure planning, and financial strategy
- Manages and enforces the Project Funding Approval process
- Generates financial information and performs analysis as required
- Provides capital program analysis and linkage to OPEX (operating impact, depreciation forecast, etc.).
- Performs project post-implementation analysis and provides “lessons-learned” type reports
Requirements for the role:
- Minimum 3 – 7 years’ experience in strategic financial capital planning by running sophisticated financial modeling
- Professional Accounting Designation or close to completion
- Experience with capitalization accounting under IFRS
- Very Strong Microsoft Excel Skills with the ability to build sophisticated financial models and conduct sensitivity analysis
