The Opportunity:
Our client is one of the largest and fastest-growing propane distribution companies in Canada. They are a fast-moving, customer-facing, field-based business operating coast to coast, with over 400 team members. They strive to be the undisputed propane leader in North America.
We are currently supporting them with their search for a Finance Analytics Specialist who will serve as the go-to expert for all financial data analysis, systems integration, and reporting automation initiatives. The role requires advanced proficiency in data analytics tools, including Excel, Macros, VBA programming, MS Access, SQL Server, Power Query, and Python to support the finance department in uncovering insights, managing complex data structures, and creating efficient models for financial reporting and analysis.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Data Investigation & Analysis:
Lead efforts to investigate and analyze financial data, providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. - Data Integration Management:
Oversee the integration and flow of financial data between various systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security across all platforms. - Modeling & Automation:
Develop and implement financial models and automated reporting solutions using advanced Excel tools (Macros, VBA programming, Power Query), SQL Server, and Python for advanced data manipulation and analysis. - Financial Reporting:
Design, develop, and maintain robust financial reports and dashboards, delivering critical financial insights and trends to key stakeholders. - Collaborative Support:
Act as the key resource for the finance department, assisting various teams in optimizing workflows, solving data-related challenges, and ensuring financial terms are clearly communicated across departments. - Process Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and enhance existing processes, recommending improvements to optimize efficiency, scalability, and financial accuracy in all operations. - Training & Development:
Provide training to finance team members on data analysis tools and methodologies, including Python, empowering them to utilize analytics in daily decision-making.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial data analysis with a strong emphasis on managing large data sets, automating financial reporting, and working with financial terms and metrics. - Expert-level Excel skills:
including advanced Macros, VBA programming, and Power Query. - Proficiency in MS Access, SQL Server, and Python:
for data manipulation, integration, querying, and building sophisticated financial models. - Financial Modeling Expertise:
Ability to create, automate, and interpret complex financial models, ensuring accuracy and delivering actionable insights. - Analytical Mindset:
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large volumes of financial data to extract meaningful insights that drive business strategy. - Financial Literacy:
Deep understanding of financial concepts, terms, and performance metrics to effectively analyze and communicate financial data. - Communication Skills:
