Buy Low Foods is currently seeking a Sushi Cook to join our team. This position is full-time, Temporary, and reports to the Store Manager.*Duties and Responsibilities:* Prepare sushi rolls, , and other traditional Japanese dishes according to recipes and standards. Ensure freshness and quality of ingredients by inspecting seafood, vegetables, and other components before use. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi bar, including equipment, utensils, and workstations. Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of perishable items. Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate timing of sushi orders with other menu items during peak service periods. Monitor inventory levels and communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ingredients. Train and mentor sushi apprentices or assistants to uphold quality standards and improve efficiency in sushi preparation. Engage with guests to provide recommendations, answer questions, and accommodate special dietary requests. Stay informed about current food trends, industry developments, and traditional Japanese cooking techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.Skills and Qualifications:* Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting. In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi techniques, and traditional ingredients. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and interact with guests. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the store schedule. Certification in food safety preferred. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
