Job Title: Linux Administrator
Location: Wokingham, UK
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Rate: £400 - £450
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Linux Administrator to join our team and provide advanced technical support for desktop environments. The role involves managing and deploying operating systems, applications, and updates within a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Linux and Windows support, particularly with Windows 7/10/11 desktop environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support for the desktop estate (primarily Windows 7/10/11)
- Design, package, and deploy operating systems and applications
- Manage application and OS deployments using tools like SCCM
- Administer change, problem, incident, and release management processes in alignment with customer policies
- Support the management of Windows desktop builds and ensure efficient packaging and deployment
- Handle critical tasks such as workstation builds and the deployment of anti-virus and patches
- Provide assistance with PEN testing and fixing vulnerabilities
- Troubleshoot application and workstation issues effectively
- Support Intune device management and laptop builds
Key Skills & Expertise:
- Strong understanding of application packaging technologies (e.g., MSI)
- Experience with software deployment technologies (SCCM preferred)
- Proficient in Active Directory management, Group Policy, and workstation support
- Knowledge of managing antivirus and patch deployments
- Familiarity with workstation builds and management for critical business users
- Experience with vulnerability management and PEN test support
- Intune device management and laptop build experience is a plus
Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience Required: 8+ years in a similar role, providing technical support and managing deployments in both Linux and Windows environments
- Duration: 6 months (with potential extensions)
- Contractors Required: 1
