Role/Department
This role is required to perform duties of an Intern, Chief Administrative Office (CAO), Audit Services but will also be required to perform additional duties as directed by Management. It is based in Canary Wharf, London. This is a 6 month contract ideally starting end of January 2025.
About The Chief Administrative Office (CAO) for Audit Services
Audit Services is an integral part of the three lines of defence at Northern Trust. We represent the third line of defence - an independent group, responsible for assessing the Bank's risk and controls. Audit Services undertakes internal audits for Asset Servicing, Wealth Management & Asset Management/Fiduciary Risk, Chief Financial Office, Technology, Capital Markets/Chief Risk Officer, Digital/AML/ESG, APAC Region & Professional Practices Group. The CAO Team is responsible for providing centralized administrative support to the Audit Services department across a number of disciplines, including: program-level support of annual audit plan execution, resource planning and execution, support of financial management, global project and initiative oversight, communication strategy and employee engagement. Team members within the CAO team are encouraged to build authentic relationships with global managers, think creatively, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
The key responsibilities of the role include
- Audit Scheduling and planning: Working as part of the scheduling team to create ownership of audit scheduling and capacity planning across 60 global staff, interacting directly with managers in six locations globally.
- Process Assessment and Improvement: Critically assessing the department's processes in order to increase efficiency and development of the department.
- Working with Senior Management: Liaising with senior management, providing regular updates and insights into audit progress to keep managers and directors informed.
- Management Information Reporting: Creating Management Information for senior meetings by extracting key data, conducting RAG analysis and writing up comments for flagged audits that might require extra resources or that are running behind their designated timeline.
- Data analysis and Insight Evaluation: Apply analytical skills to evaluate information, collect key statistics such as partner capacity and utilisation, challenge data where necessary and provide a comprehensive review to senior management.
- Audit Participation: Potential to undertake Audit work as part of a wider team - this will involve attending walkthroughs and planning meetings, undertaking testing in accordance with the Internal Audit Manual on the business and aiding the discussion with businesses to remediate identified issues.
- Newsletter Compilation: Lead the creation of the Audit Services Quarterly Newsletter by sourcing stories, summarizing key insights, outlining future updates, ensuring timely communication across the organisation.

- Develop an understanding of Northern Trust's business units, products & services, and operating environment and the associated business risks, controls and processes, along with knowledge of the impact of systems within responsible areas.
