About the role
In this role you contribute to our Professional Services Technical team whose expertise enables our clients to seamlessly move to or between Education Horizons products and to make the most of their data through powerful insights and on-brand data-driven reports. Our deep understanding of our product sets and our clients’ data enables smooth integrations with third party systems putting Education Horizons products at the heart of our clients’ ecosystems. In short, this team takes the worry of migrating and accessing their data away from our clients. You will work alongside your peers and share your mutual knowledge, in turn lifting the broader team and enabling them to perform at their best and by transforming our toolsets and processes to keep pace with our clients’ needs.
We are looking for candidates with a primary specialty in reporting (Stimulsoft, Crystal, PowerBI) but that are interested in developing a broader technical and data skillset.
Key Responsibilities and Areas of Authority
Report Creation (Essential)
- Report Writing Tools – Experience with Stimulsoft, Crystal Reports, and/or Power BI.
- Strong data analysis and visualisation skills - Ability to create visually appealing and informative reports with clear charts, graphs, and tables.
Database Skills (Essential)
- Foundational knowledge - Ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers. Solid understanding of schema design and normalisation principles.
- Data Conversion - Experience with techniques like ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) for migrating data between disparate sources. Knowledge of data cleaning and preprocessing methods.
- Platform Experience - Proficiency in specific database platforms including SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
Troubleshooting (Desirable)
- Database Profiling - Ability to use database profiling tools to troubleshoot complex performance issues, report issues, data inconsistencies, and identify other discrepancies.
- Collaboration – Leverage collective knowledge and diverse perspectives within a team to achieve optimal outcomes. Prioritise collaborative problem-solving over individual efforts, minimising wasted time and maximising impact.
Integrations (Desirable)
- Web - Experience with integrating APIs, web services, or other third-party applications with the database. Familiarity with relevant protocols and security considerations.
- Exports - Use of intermediary file formats (CSV, XLSX) and SQL Server Agent (or similar) to generate, transfer and/or consume data.
Project Delivery (Essential)
- Estimation - Ability to accurately estimate the time and resources required for technical (ie. database and reporting) tasks.
- Mitigate deliverable risks - Proactive approach to identifying potential cost overruns and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder engagement - Ability to communicate budget constraints and negotiate with stakeholders to ensure client value and effective outcomes.
- Working within the Education Horizons Information Security Management System and policies
- Live and lead the Values of Education Horizons.
Experience and Qualifications
- A strong technical background with good working knowledge around any of the following as possible; Stimulsoft, Crystal Reports, Power BI, SSRS, XSLT, T-SQL (including stored procedures and views), Python Scripting (Essential).
- A strong capacity to engage and collaborate with various groups including colleagues, clients and stakeholders, with demonstrated problem-solving ability (Essential).
- An ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently to meet established deadlines (Essential).
- Effective client liaison skills, with ability to deal confidently with difficult situations and challenging clients (Essential).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Essential) and Salesforce (Desirable).
- An understanding of the K-12 education sector, and school based processes (Desirable).
- Good understanding of school environments, with knowledge of and proficiency in using technologies common to school environments (Desirable).
- Experience of deploying and/or using Education Horizon products within a school environment (Desirable).
