The Opportunity
Due to unprecedented demand, we have a number of vacancies for senior civil/structural engineers working across a multitude of projects including Decommissioning, Nuclear New Build, Defence and Advanced technologies.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Receive, analyse, and verify the accuracy and consistency of input data.
Generate design documentation, including assumption notes, technical specifications, and calculation reports.
Conduct necessary design and analysis tasks.
Review and develop inputs for the nuclear safety case, such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Basis of Design, Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs), and Design Substantiation Reports (DSRs).
Justify design decisions to the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
Perform technical verifications of civil engineering documents.
Create and maintain CDM Designers Risk Registers and other associated CDM deliverables.
Collaborate with international SMR developers to successfully navigate the Office of Nuclear Regulation’s Generic Design Assessment process.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Degree educated in civil and/or structural engineering, working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE
Design office experience with experience of design of reinforced concrete and design of steel structures
Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs
Design experience in nuclear context (or similar highly regulated context)
Knowledge and understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering, an understanding of American codes of practice
Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment
Self-starter with a professional approach and a technical background
Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders.The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
