JOB PURPOSE
European IT Server Administrator role is to monitor and maintain the server systems and networks of an organisation. They may install and configure Server systems, diagnose hardware/software faults, and solve technical and applications problems, troubleshoot, support, and administer production Server infrastructure. Daily operations, backup, monitoring, update and upgrades of Server systems in physical and virtual environment.
Travel to other sites will be required.
DIMENSIONS
Technical Server specialists are mainly responsible for the smooth running of server infrastructure. Individual tasks may vary but not limited too.
Installing and configuring server hardware operating systems and applications
Monitoring and maintaining server systems and networks.
- Talking staff/vendors through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues.
- Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
- Replacing parts as required.
- Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports.
- Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system.
- Supporting the roll-out of new systems (Server infrastructure)
- Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate).
- Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time.
- Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, e.g., Business Development.
- Testing and evaluating new technology.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Administrate server environment on company systems
- Administrate backup solution (Veeam, Rubrik etc.)
- Ensure that all back-ups are performed and successful, with additional copies are transferred offsite.
- Ability to Provide a high-quality standard of work to time scales pre-defined within a service level agreement.
- Maintain procedures and documentation for the above areas providing regular up-to-date reports.
- Support other teams and team members within EMEA region to support daily operations and project work.
BACKGROUND
- The Company presently has 46 locations within the Europe.
- There are localised Fileservers at all locations for file and print, with the business systems running either in the Europe data centre or locally. The main responsibility would be to administrate and support both the data network and the server operating systems for all servers based in the region.
- All locations have a mixture of Networked PC’s and various networked equipment. The jobholder would be expected to provide advice and support to the other team members in relation to this equipment.
- The jobholder would be based within one of the European facilities, but there will be the need for the jobholder to go to any of the other EMEA facilities at regular intervals.
- Due to the size in numbers of equipment being supported it is essential that configuration, documentation, licensing, and inventory information is constantly kept up to date.
Knowledge & Experience
- Good Knowledge of computer/server hardware
- Experience with desktop operating systems including Windows OS,
- Linux, Microsoft Windows Server OS, VmWare, HyperV, Cisco Hyperflex/HCI, HPE Simplivity
- Experience of Server Infrastructure
- Experience of Azure and cloud technologies
- Experience ITIL ticketing systems
- Knowledge about Office and Office365
- User management and Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
- Managing File and Print servers, application servers and production systems
- Network skills, switching, WIFI etc.
- Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities.
- Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
- Good Written and oral communication skills, native language, and English.
- Good interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- 3+ years of working experience in similar role.

- Jobholder may have to communicate with any staff using PC’s or network equipment. This relates to anyone within the organisation.
- A close working relationship would need to be established with the Systems Support team throughout Europe and with corporate IT staff in the USA.
- There would be a requirement to communicate with maintenance companies regarding support issues.
