Background
This is an opportunity to join the Information Services department based at AESC’s Sunderland-based manufacturing facilities. Information Services manage all aspects of the IT infrastructure and information systems required to support the company’s UK operations, including its expansion into its new Sunderland-based Gigafactory.
Outline and Responsibilities
- Participating in network-related projects and changes. Planning, installation, configuration and commissioning of new network architecture, infrastructure and solutions in conjunction with the network architect.
- Supporting the Operations team in network-related incident and problem management. Root-cause analysis and counter-measure creation and implementation.
- Supporting the network architect and the wider IS team in managing network security within the company’s enterprise, manufacturing and datacentre networks.
- Maintaining and promoting network-related policies, processes, procedures and documentation. Working closely with team colleagues, UK business departments, contacts within other regional plants and the Global-IS function.
- Regular, network-related reporting to both IS and business management.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Experience of participating in IT network-related projects, changes and planning activities.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
- Good attention to detail and practical skills.
- Proficiency in the use of network management access tools, ideally Cisco Identity Services Engine.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrable IT skills with relevant experience of supporting network and network management services and infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.
- Some specific areas of interest or expertise such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, cyber-security, hardware infrastructure or routing protocols (e.g., OSPF / BGP).
- Experience of wireless / wired network management, specifically Cisco C9800 and Catalyst Centre.
- Working-level knowledge of Cisco ACI Datacentre, Cisco DNAC and Cisco Wi-Fi.
- Working-level knowledge of fourth-generation zone-based firewalls (ideally Cisco and Palo Alto).
- Understanding of vSphere virtual switches.
- A relevant IT degree.
