The Opportunity:
Our client is one of the largest and fastest-growing propane distribution companies in Canada. They are a fast-moving, customer-facing, field-based business operating coast to coast, with over 400 team members. They strive to be the undisputed propane leader in North America.
We are currently supporting them with their search for an IT Infrastructure Lead to manage and optimize their IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role will involve working closely with external service providers and internal teams to ensure that the infrastructure supports business objectives and strategic initiatives. You will have the opportunity to drive key infrastructure decisions that align with future business needs.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the IT infrastructure, including networking, cloud services, and security.
- Design and execute infrastructure architecture strategies with a strong focus on networking, Azure cloud environments, and security.
- Oversee the lifecycle of IT systems, ensuring timely upgrades, patching, and seamless transitions for end-of-life systems.
- Optimize Azure cloud infrastructure, focusing on cost, performance, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure challenges through root cause analysis and the implementation of long-term solutions.
- Create and maintain infrastructure roadmaps, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
- Research and adopt new technologies to enhance the efficiency, resilience, and scalability of the infrastructure.
- Continuously assess and fine-tune infrastructure performance, capacity planning, and system resiliency.
- Monitor and manage infrastructure costs, ensuring adherence to budget constraints and exploring cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure the effectiveness of backup systems, disaster recovery procedures, and failover testing.
- Collaborate with third-party Security Operations Centers (SOCs) to monitor security, mitigate threats, and maintain compliance.
- Maintain and enforce IT security protocols in line with industry standards, documenting exceptions when necessary.
- Manage voice and data services across all branch locations, handling vendor contracts and relationships to optimize service delivery.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, operations, and architecture.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with ITIL best practices (ITIL Foundation certification is a plus).
- Extensive hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, particularly in compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with vendors, including negotiating contracts, overseeing SLAs, and tracking performance.
- Experience using service management tools like ServiceNow or Remedy for incident management, change tracking, and reporting.
- Proven leadership skills with a collaborative approach and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities to diagnose and address infrastructure issues effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to various stakeholders.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
