NHBC is offering an exceptional opportunity for four ambitious individuals to join our Trainee Building Control Surveyor Apprenticeship program 2024.

What you’ll be doing
Employments and initial training starts in January 2025, with a combination of ‘classroom’ based learning, in our award-winning Academy in Milton Keynes and days out with your colleagues/mentor(s) visiting sites over 6 to 9 months, here after enrolling onto the apprenticeship degree course.
In September 2025, you will start your Apprenticeship Degree in Building Control Surveying with our provider, The University of Wolverhampton. This is a four-year degree course covering a wide range of building control, surveying and construction related subjects. Your learning will be structured with set days for University learning and on-the-job training being office and site based with specialist and experienced NHBC Surveyors, where full commitment will be required.
On completion of the program, you will be awarded a industry-recognised Chartered Degree qualification and continue on a permanent career pathway as a NHBC Chartered Building Control Surveyor who will also become BSR Class registered (Registered Building Inspector).
- January 2025, Initial 6-9 months training provided with award-winning NHBC Training Academy, Milton Keynes Head Office.
- September 2025, Automatic enrolment to Degree course. Degree learning/training provided by The University Of Wolverhampton, requiring 3 to 5 days mandatory attendance being the Apprenticeship Course at the University itself with a mix of home and remote learning when not.
- On-the-job learning with an experienced peer group and mentoring, working between Office and Site-based.
- Online remote learning and home-based working.
What we’re looking for

- excellent communication, verbal, and written skills, with appropriate interpersonal skills
- good IT literacy with the ability to use a range of software programs
- demonstrable, organisational and planning skills to support own learning, remote working balanced with on-the-job learning and University attendance.
- must have the ability to absorb training, and new learning and demonstrate good knowledge and expertise in your role throughout the course
- self-motivated to attain your degree to see it through to the end of the program
- ability to work with limited supervision and to take pride in their role.
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Diploma, from a UK education board (Proof documents required, NHBC will administer checks).
- Advantageous to have a diploma qualification in the construction industry or industrial experience in the construction field.
- This opportunity may appeal to individuals looking for training and career development or a change of career to obtain a Degree in Building Control (Payment claw-backs apply to joining of the course).
- Must be willing to travel to Milton Keynes and London Offices.
- You will require a full UK Driving Licence.
