Data Scientist Engineer (Operations)
Location: London, UK | £60,000 - £90,000 + perks

Our client is a dynamic, ethically-driven startup that specialises in Data Science-as-a-Service. They leverage machine learning to help not-for-profits run more successful fundraising campaigns. Their focus on machine learning is core to their business, not just a buzzword—everything you do to improve the models has a real-world impact on meaningful causes.
The Operations team plays a critical role in helping customers integrate and maximize the use of their platform. They are looking for highly skilled individuals to join this talented team.
In this role, you'll get to:
- Perform quality assurance of model predictions and automate QA tasks.
- Analyze data and generate reports to support business objectives and client success.
- Assist clients during the onboarding process, including QA of machine learning models, predictions, and tools.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and investigations into data, systems, and models to resolve customer queries.
- Maintain and improve data integration, transformation, and modelling systems.
- Work primarily with Python and SQL (Postgres, Athena/Presto, DuckDB) and occasionally other technologies as needed.
- Improve and maintain a high-quality codebase through adherence to coding standards, testing, and collaboration within a shared git repository.
- Collaborate closely with the team to solve technical challenges.
- Investigate and enhance data transformation pipelines.
- Work alongside experienced data scientists and engineers to drive innovation.
On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Advanced SQL skills.
- Strong data science capabilities.
- Experience with databases and professional software engineering practices.
- A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred but not required:
- Experience in the fundraising or non-profit sector.
- Experience working in startups.
- Familiarity with AWS (EC2, Batch, Lambda, S3, Athena).
- Knowledge of DuckDB.
- Git and CI/CD pipeline experience.
